Want to know what life was like in the glory days of Missouri's Old Lead Belt?

On Saturday ,the Missouri Mines State Historic Site in Park Hills will open its doors from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. for an Old Mine open house. The event commemorates the 100th anniversary of the Federal Mill, the heart of the historic site's mine complex. Retired Lead Belt miners and millworkers have been invited as special guests to talk to the public about life in the mines, and artifacts will be on display.

The Scott Joplin House began hosting its series of lectures and performances on the cultural contributions of women to the society of Joplin's era last week. This Sunday the series continues with a lecture with a tantalizing title, "Archaeology and Prostitution: Filling the Gaps of Women's History," by Valerie Altizer, a professor at Missouri Valley College in Marshall. She'll speak at 2 p.m. about cultural archaeology and its contribution to studies on prostitution and boarding houses in Kansas City, St. Louis and Washington D.C.

Fox Theatre, St. Louis

The Fox Theatre will celebrate its 25th anniversary this weekend with a Broadway musical revue by Linda Elder and Brian Stokes Mitchell. The concert will be at 8 p.m. Friday.

Elder, best known for her role in "Jekyll and Hyde," will sing Broadway standards including "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" and "Bring on the Men." Mitchell is a Tony Award winner.

On Saturday, the Fox will offer tours for free from 1 to 5 p.m. along with organ concerts by Stan Kann. On Sunday the Fox will show films, including "The Phantom of the Opera" and "E.T.," starting at 1 p.m.
