Oh man! I know I shouldn't start the review out like this, but I have to get it off my chest. "Pineapple Express" is amazing. Hands down, the best comedy of the summer.

So, does anyone remember the TV show "Freeks and Geeks" on NBC? It only ran for a year, but, it starred both Seth Rogen and James Franco. Not only that but it also featured several episodes written by Judd Apatow.

Well, these three guys are back for "Pineapple Express." Judd Apatow produced it and co-wrote it along with Rogen and Evan Goldberg. Franco and Rogen also play the two main characters in the film. Rogen plays Dale Denton, a 25-year-old process-serving stoner. Franco plays Saul Silver, Dale's drug dealer.

One night, Dale stops out in front of the house of the next person he is supposed to serve and smokes a joint of Pineapple Express, a rare and apparently very good type of pot. While smoking in his car, Dale witnesses a murder committed by the drug lord, Ted Jones (Gary Cole), and a crooked cop (Rosie Perez). They see him, and Dale throws his joint out the window and speeds off. Jones finds the leftover joint and discovers that Saul and Dale are the only ones in the city with Pineapple Express. Therefore, he sends some bad guys to go track down and kill the two pot smokers.

Pretty much, as soon as the movie started, I started laughing and did not stop until about 10 minutes after it was over. Rogen and Franco are absolutely hilarious. First of all, Rogen has one of the greatest laughs ever. I don't know how it's possible to hear him laugh and not laugh yourself. It's just amazing. Then there's Franco, who pulls off the greatest performance of his career.

Before this movie I really didn't like him. I thought his performance in the Spider-Man trilogy was just bad and little over the top. But after seeing "Pineapple Express," I am changed man. He should totally stick to comedy, he's brilliant at it.

Not only that, but "Pineapple Express" also has some of the funniest action scenes you will ever see. It has the best fight scene since Nicolas Cage and John Goodman in "Raising Arizona."

Dale, Saul and Red (another drug dealer, played by Danny R. McBride) get into a giant fight in Red's house and destroy it. It starts with Red throwing an ashtray at Dale and doesn't stop until Red is duct-taped to a chair. It's an instant classic.

While this movie is great, I just don't think it's one of those movies that people will watch over and over. It just doesn't have the type of lines that people will quote all time.

Either way, though, it's amazing.
