Each issue of OFF! highlights someone who has achieved success in his/her field. This issue's pick is Chad Armbruster of Cape Girardeau.

Stats:

Age - 24

Education - 4th grade reading level

Home Town - Barnhart Mo., don't let the name fool you it's small

Marital Status - Girl friend that acts as a wife.

OFF! - I hear the staff of OFF! is a cool group of people, what do you like best about your new job at OFF! magazine?

Chad - I like the witty banter and Jaysen B's winning smile. But really it's the idea that I have a chance to make Cape a livelier place to be. Too many people complain that there's nothing to do around here. Part of my job is to let everyone know what's going on, and let me tell you there is A LOT going on. No really it's Jaysen's smile.

OFF! - You worked at Barnes & Noble before joining OFF! full-time, any interesting or unusual stories about your job there?

Chad - Well, I could tell you, but then I'd have to kill you.

OFF! - I know you were playing in a Jazz band at southeast when you started working at OFF!. What instruments do you play?

Chad - I've played the trombone for about fourteen years. I also know a little guitar and piano.

OFF! - You recently interviewed Clark Terry for OFF! and we know you are interested in Jazz music, what other types of music do you enjoy?

Chad - I really listen to just about anything. I was a music major for a while and during that time I took a liking to Classical and Jazz. During high school I listened to a lot of grunge rock.

OFF! - Favorite performer?

Chad - It really depends on the genre. For classical I like Mahler, jazz I like Stan Kenton, rock I like Pink Floyd.

OFF! - I know you have a really super boss, she scored you an interview with the Mighty Mighty Boss Tones in St. Louis (look for it next issue). Did you ever think you'd be interviewing professional artists?

Chad - In a reality NO! I've never been one to plan out what I'm going to do with my life. The problem is that I have too many interests to just do one thing for the rest of my life. I always just kind of went with the flow of things, or if I want something to happen I work to make it happen.

OFF! - It's obvious you have musical interests, any other hobbies or artistic pursuits?

Chad - I really enjoy creative writing. I like the idea of have complete control over people's lives and worlds.

OFF! - What are your goals for the future, both personally and professionally?

Chad - Professionally, I just want to be happy at what ever I'm doing and for my family to be proud of me. Personally, I hope to be financially stable enough to have a family.
