Two Southeast Missouri natives are bringing their unusual style of pool hall and arcade to the Town Plaza in Cape Girardeau.

Christopher and Lisa Seib have been operating Pink Galleon pool halls in St. Louis since 1993. Their bars, which they describe as "high class billiards and games," derives the name from the pink felt on the pool tables and the Mediterranean theme of the decor.

"We've got the hottest pink on our pool tables that can be made," Christopher Seib said. "It really sets us apart and makes people remember who we are."

There are two Pink Galleon locations in the St. Louis area, one in Creve Coeur and one on Butler Hill Road in South County. Christopher Seib said they chose Cape Girardeau for their new location in part because of ties to the region: Lisa is from New Hamburg and he's from Poplar Bluff. Both also attended Southeast Missouri State University and always wanted to start a business locally.

"We had always discussed coming back and doing something like this," Christopher Seib said. "The main thing for us was to wait until we could get the project together, wait until the timing was right. We know we are bringing in something unique and successful."

And although some may be thrown off by the hot pink theme, Seib said the color is the bar's statement to the public.

"We want the pink to immediately tell everyone we are not your average smoky pool hall," Seib said. "It gives us more of a classy nightclub feel."

One of the Pink Galleon's biggest draws, he said, is the more than 35 games — from darts and foosball to arcade games and air hockey — to keep customers entertained.

"We are like an adult Chuck E. Cheese," Seib said. "We're not like many other places that are sit down and watch TV or whatever. We are a party place."

As far as food and drink, Seib said the menu features high-quality burgers, chicken sandwiches and finger foods with a great full service bar.

"We don't have a restaurant menu, but we have very good food that will satisfy you," Seib said.

The Pink Galleon opens at 11 a.m. and is located at the Town Plaza in Cape Girardeau.
