Here at the 10 songs Charlie Kent of Cape Girardeau wouldn't want to live without:
1. "Beulahland" -- old spiritual
I want this sung at my funeral.
2. "Amazing Grace" -- old hymn
The title says it all, and that's sufficient for me.
3. "The Star-Spangled Banner"
It connects me to my home and country and makes me appreciate the cost of freedom.4. "Auld Lang Syne"
It comforts me and it reminds me to reflect on the past and at the same time to be hopeful for the future. And usually you only hear it once a year so it never burns out.
5. "Cool Change" -- The Little River Band
This song made a big impression on me in my high school "daze," and years later it "resurfaced" and prompted a "vision" that became a turning point in my life.
6. "Eres Tu"
I learned this in Spanish class in the seventh grade from a Latin acoustic guitarist. I thought it was so beautiful. From this experience I came to appreciate music in many other languages.
7. "A Taste of Honey" -- Chet Baker
His voice, so sensual, so smooth, leaves me wanting more!
8. "America the Beautiful"
"God shed his grace on thee." May we never forget this or pass laws to exclude "God" from our lives in any way, shape or form.
9. "I Hope You Dance" -- Lee Ann Womack
It inspires me.
10. "Not A Day Goes By" -- Lonestar
It's my current favorite because it's how I feel about a particular someone.
