These are the 10 songs Kandee Metje of Cape Girardeau wouldn't want to live without:
1. "Taking You Home" -- Don Henley
It's a wonderful song about having a great life (which I do) but having someone come along that makes it even better and bringing that person into your life. If I ever plan another wedding, I want Billy Keys to sing this song.
2. "Give Me One Reason to Stay" -- Tracy Chapman
I love this bluesy song. Got great rhythm, the kind that makes you dance in your seat while driving your car (I did this morning).
3. "Up On the Roof" -- James Taylor
I've got a great old house that has access to the roof through my daughter's bedroom window. I love getting out there and looking out onto Capaha ballfield or just hanging out enjoying the sun. The song fits how I feel when I'm up there.
4. "Dim All the Lights" -- Donna Summer
My high school girlfriends and I nearly wore out the 8-track in my '65 convertible VW listening to this over and over. It's just one of those songs that would always find us screaming and running for the dance floor when we heard it come on!
5. "Stranger on the Shore" -- Acker Bilk
I fell in love with this song when I first heard it played in "Mr. Holland's Opus." It's a very sweet, romantic instrumental piece that makes me want to slow dance.
6. "Blue Eyes" -- Elton John
I don't have them, but I love this song. My daughter surprised me awhile back and learned to play it on the piano.
7. "I'm in You" -- Peter Frampton
What girl could live through the '70s and not have a crush on Peter Frampton? I saw him in concert last summer at Riverport and he still made me swoon when he sang it.
8. "Be Not Afraid" -- church hymn
This song is so awesome! Reminds me that God is always watching out for me and keeping me safe. All I need to do is follow him.
9. "Wrapped Up in You" -- Garth Brooks
This is so peppy, so contagious, I can't help but feel really upbeat while hearing it.
10. "I'm Movin' On" -- Rascal Flatts
A sad sort of song about realizing the end of a relationship. It's a good one to listen to when I know I could use a good cry and need a catalyst.
