"Mamma Mia," Broadway's hit musical that inspired a motion picture, is coming to Southeast Missouri State University's River Campus with two shows at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 26 and 27, according to a news release.
The performances will be in the Bedell Performance Hall in the Cultural Arts Center.
"I've been trying to book this show for years, and it's finally happened," Bob Cerchio, assistant director of Southeast's Earl and Margie Holland School of Visual and Performing Arts, said in the release. "It's one of the biggest Broadway musicals out there, and we're excited to bring it to Cape Girardeau for two performances."
Writer Catherine Johnson's tale unfolds on a Greek island paradise. On the eve of her wedding, Sophie's quest to discover the identity of her father brings three men from her mother's past back to the island they last visited 20 years ago.
The storytelling of songs by the group ABBA propels the story of love, laughter and friendship.
Tickets may be purchased by visiting the River Campus box office, 518 S. Fountain St., by calling (573) 651-2265 or online at RiverCampus.org/mamma-mia.
