PADUCAH, Ky. — Hot on the heels of "Sex and The City," the ultimate gal-pal movie, Paducah's Carson Center presents "Girls Night: The Musical."
The show is a musical comedy about a group of friends who relive the past on a wild night out at a karaoke club.
The girls have been together since they were teenagers and recount their wild pasts, explore their current lives and predict the future in the show.
They toss in songs like "Dancing Queen" and the classic "I'm Every Woman" as well as the more modern country hit "Man! I Feel Like a Woman!"
"It's very much cut from the same genre as 'The Vagina Monologues' or 'Menopause the Musical,'" said Tim Flaherty, the show's producer.
Most of the women are married — either to Mr. Perfect, Mr. Good Enough or Mr. Rich Enough to be perfect. The show started in the United Kingdom and is geared toward women, but contains little of Bridget Jones crassness and no Carrie Bradshaw sex.
"The show is exactly what the title tells us," Flaherty said. "It's just a great night out."
The show has been in dozens of theaters in the United States and will be in Paducah for one night only.
"It's a party," Flaherty said. "It's just a great party."
Showtime is 7:30 p.m. Saturday. Tickets are $45 and $40. Call the box office at 270-450-4444. Groups of 20 or more should call Group Reservations Coordinator at 270-443-9932, extension 212.
