FREDERICKTOWN, Mo. — A concert in Fredericktown aims to pay tribute to predecessors and glorify God in the process, all through the power of song.
Jeremi Richardson, the newest member of the quartet Avalon, said their music and contemporary Christian music can remind people "that there is something greater than ourselves and to love and support each other."
Avalon has been touring to promote its newest CD "Another Time, Another Place: Timeless Christian Classics," and will play in Fredericktown as part of their We Will Stand Tour with Michael English, Cadia and the Daniel Doss Band. "It's definitely a variety," Richardson said about the show.
The Sikeston, Mo.-born singer joined Avalon just 10 months ago. "The gamut of music is really covered. If you like a tender moment or if you kind of like to rock out, something at that concert will be for you."
He said he was drawn back to Christian music as he got older because of the message.
"There's always a message of hope," Richardson said. "I'm a huge music fan in general, but I'm always reminded of hope."
Avalon's newest CD is a "tribute to the people who have pioneered the way for us to be doing what we're doing today," Richardson said.
The tour stops tonight in Fredericktown at the Calvary Temple Church at 1725 East Highway 72. Concert is at 7 p.m. Tickets are $18. To order, call 573-783-5731 or visit www.itickets.com.
