Cape Girardeau artist Marty Riley will exhibit paintings in acrylic and pastels. Snacks, full cash bar and Jerry Lomax Sound System will be available during the reception and "Small Plates" by Chef James can be ordered from 9 p.m. to close. Reception from 6 to 9 p.m.

Annie Laurie's Antiques

The Illustrated Man Group, a jazzy pop group, will play for patrons perusing the vintage store until 10 p.m.

Mollie's Cafe

The late Virginia Herbert Gibson practiced art in the 1930s and '40s in Cairo, Ill., and amassed a collection of impressionist paintings featuring live subjects, landscapes and houses. View a portion of her art during the reception from 5 to 8 p.m.

Edward Bernard

The Edward Bernard Gallery has new sculptures by Victor Chiarizia, a glass artist from North Carolina who has had works displayed in Barney's in New York and the Museum of Modern Art in New York. Reception is from 5 to 9 p.m.

Garden Gallery

The Garden Gallery will gear up its pottery studio for the next Empty Bowls event. Volunteers will be making bowls from 4 to 6 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Come help or just see what the sessions are like.

The Arts Council of Southeast Missouri will have historic oil portraits in "Tribute -- Illustrating the Past" by Ann Brugess Rowe of St. Louis and handmade quilts by the River Heritage Quilters Guild from 5 to 9 p.m.

The First Friday reception for "Sarah Riley: Sabbatical Work" featuring colorful mixed media prints will be from 5 to 7 p.m. The work will be in the gallery until Feb. 19.

First Friday shuttle service suspended

The First Friday Art Shuttle, sponsored by the ARound Town Group, will no longer run on the first Friday of the month. The program, which gave free rides to people traveling from one art gallery to the next during the First Friday opening receptions, has been suspended indefinitely.
