The Missouri Fiber Artists are makers, creators and artists whose work primarily features natural or synthetic fibers, including textiles, fabrics, papers, reed, yarn, thread and more. This month, they will exhibit more than 40 original arts all sized 12 by 12 inches. Throughout the opening reception, the local Twisting Sisters Second Saturday Spinners will have coordinated fiber-artist demonstrations in the workshop room. At 6:30 p.m., the Southeast Missouri Dance Ensemble will perform excerpts from its Fall for Dance concert to be held Nov. 17 through 20. The dance pieces will include student and faculty work and a mixture of dance genres: ballet, modern and jazz.

An Alumni Art Exhibit Reception marking the opening of a monthlong exhibit of works by Southeast Missouri State University alumna Teresa Dirks will be from 4 to 5 p.m. in the Dobbins Center Gallery on the River Campus. Dirks is one of the university's 2016 Alumni Merit Award recipients. The exhibit will remain on display through Dec. 9.

Catapult Press: The press will host visiting Artist Matt Hopson-Walker, coordinator of foundations, interim graduate coordinator and assistant professor in printmaking and foundations at the University of South Alabama. Artist talks and letterpress will take place earlier Friday.
