I went into "Herbie: Fully Loaded" expecting the best from Disney, and that's what I got. This is a family-based movie that brings the past to the present with today's technology and flair.

Between the main character's dream of being a NASCAR driver and Herbie wanting to be needed, this movie puts a smile on your face as all ends well. For the NASCAR fans, cameo appearances by several well-known drivers, including Jeff Gordon, make the movie more fun.

America's passions show up throughout the movie involving street racing, fancy race cars, everyday dreams, graduating from college, realizing that your friend really is your boyfriend and that dreams can come true.

Disney has given us a fun family film for the summer with live people and a good laugh at all that happens. Children will love this movie for its action and antics. Disney did a great job of taking a movie from, ahem -- my generation -- and making it into one that the children and adults of today will truly enjoy. This is a keeper.

Every once in a while, a movie comes along that makes you wish movies were never created. This is one of those movies.

"Herbie: Fully Loaded" is a film that stars Lindsey Lohan and a VW Bug. Of course, after a half-hour of the film the VW seems to be demonically possessed. The movie also starred another somewhat famous actor (R.I.P.: Here lies Michael Keaton's career).

I have almost never flat-out told people not to see a movie , but ... do not see this movie. Even if you are a fan of the "Herbie" series, the moments when Herbie is in CGI are pitiful looking. It looks so fake. And of course there is the Lohan factor. All of these combined makes "Herbie: Fully Loaded" one horrible movie. Because of my experience with this movie, I can tell you how many tiles are on the ceiling in the theater (56).

One star (out of four)

This movie is about Herbie, which some people my age will remember as "The Love Bug" starring Dean Jones. It is supposed to be an updated, more hip Love Bug movie.

This movie does have its funny moments but I found myself liking the soundtrack better than the movie. If I could have just listened to the soundtrack I would have been just as satisfied as watching the movie.

However, this is a Walt Disney movie, and I noticed all of the children around me were having the time of their lives clapping and cheering. It would have probably been more enjoyable for me if I had brought my nieces and nephews with me to see this, because seeing the children's enjoyment did make the movie a little bit more bearable.

So this is not a dating movie, but take your children if they have been good. Anyone 10 and under should love this movie.
