"Spider-Man" is an interesting summer escape film with elements that would appeal to any age group. Stunts, both human and digital, were fascinating and well constructed. The movie dragged in spots and I noticed some patrons (pre-teen males) getting restless in the romantic and plot development parts.

Acting was excellent by Toby Maguire, William Dafoe, Kirsten Dunst and Cliff Robertson. I liked the part where the hero learned how to cope with and use his new powers. I can understand why the younger patrons were restless with the romantic sections.

People in my age group may be disappointed with the romantic ending, but the hero has time to learn how to deal with a mature relationship. Having never read the comics, I thought the plot developed well.

The ending screamed sequel, even setting up the next villain.
