Even a small town girl who has been told for years she is going nowhere can prove them all wrong.

The main character in "View from the Top" is a head-strong woman who has to change her life or go crazy. This light-hearted, feel-good movie is what we need now. Don't forget the sappy romance, too.

If my mom were an ex-show girl I'd want to get out of Dodge as soon as I could, too. Ever since she was little they all told her she would never leave, so she buys an inspirational book and gets a job with a dinky airline. This woman has goals and she goes after them.

Right now with our country at war, we need feel good movies to take our minds away from the everyday trials of life. I laughed and left feeling happy I didn't have to watch gratuitous sex, trivial mind games or gore.

Some friends and I were actually thinking of seeing this movie voluntarily because we referred to it as "the Mike Myers movie." Unfortunately, he was in it for about 15 minutes total, and it may have been his worst role. So Mike Myers fans, don't bother with this one.

It introduces us to Gwyneth's character as a child and shows us that she was born into a white trash family. She has dreams of seeing the world and getting as far away from her hometown as she can. That's when she becomes a flight attendant and where the oh-so-clever title of the movie comes in. It soon turns into a chick flick rather than a comedy due to the fact that she struggles between her love of travel and her true love for her boyfriend.

The only credit I'm giving it is the fact that it might make a good date movie.

Two stars

"View from the Top" is a movie with a good moral message: Follow your dream and don't ever give up, because if you do you end up being bitter and resentful about the person you become.

Although I nodded off from time to time, my attention was occasionally grabbed by Mike Myers and his crooked eye, not to mention Gwyneth Paltrow and her long legs. But since the movie is rated PG-13, I'll not go into that here.

I found this movie entertaining and funny in some parts, boring in most. If you want to be a stewardess, go see this movie. If not, wait for the video release.
