Jack Ryan is back in the latest adaptation of a Tom Clancy novel, this time with a younger version of the CIA analyst portrayed by Ben Affleck. The chillingly realistic premise of the movie concerns what could happen if a nuclear weapon fell into the hands of a terrorist group.
The "up-to-the second" communication between the intelligence officials and country's leaders via the Internet made the action even more intense.
However, realizing that this movie, based on a novel published in 1991, was eerily close to the events of Sept. 11 left me feeling somewhat shaken.
The movie glossed over the human tragedy of the attack, and there were a few too many scenes of Affleck running slow-motion through smoldering ruins.
