The title "Resident Evil: The Apocalypse" told me that this was a movie based on a video game, so when the movie began I was not surprised that the overwhelming majority of watchers were young males.

The story starts as a woman breaks out of a glass prison. Then other characters are quickly identified and placed in a deadly situation as they become trapped in a city that is sealed off because an explosively spreading virus has turned 99 percent of the population into man-eating zombies.

The characters' escape involves nonstop running and fighting with zombies plus some special fighting by two supersoldier types.

As in a video game, the movie is violent but not gory or really emotionally involving. The people are strictly in the story to provide the fighting action.

If you like computer war-type games, this would probably be interesting, but otherwise only see it if you have two hours with nothing to do.

Three stars (out of four)

This science fiction movie is based on a video game, information that is compliments of my grandson.

I found the movie graphic and intense. There was plenty of violence and many of the film's characters are killed, and not just the zombies. There was also no age limit on who was killed.

It has been quite a while since I saw a horror movie and found myself screaming at unexpected times, as I did here. Although if you play video games you can better follow this movie.

The movie's main character, Alice (Milla Jovovich), is an exceptionally strong woman who was a member of an organization that tried to use her as a scientific experiment. Once she escapes from the organization she shows all her strengths and fights throughout the movie.

No doubt you can look for "Resident Evil Three" to come to theaters next year.

Blood, guts, gore! If any one of those items tickles your fancy, "Resident Evil: Apocalypse" is your kind of movie. Although I nearly had to leave many times due to an extreme urge to vomit, I found that the story was actually quite catchy.

Going into the movie expecting it to hardly be worth your time is the way to go. You will be delighted to find out that the film is indeed worth your time and you will appreciate it more.

The plot finds Alice, the main character, in a science lab. As she leaves the lab she sees the destruction of her town and the zombies. The growls, explosions and fight scenes are eardrum-shattering loud.

I would definitely recommend this movie, even for those who may not enjoy action movies.
