"Pooh's Heffalump Movie" is a movie that the entire family can see and enjoy. Taking toddlers and small children away from the TV, VCR and DVD player to experience a large-screen movie firsthand is a good experience.

The movie is about Pooh, Tigger, Rabbit and the rest of the Hundred Acre Wood family. But for once it does not revolve around Pooh, but focuses on little Roo. The movie teaches that we should not be afraid of someone just because they are a little different. Another lesson is that children need to listen to adults for their own protection. It is a chance to become a kid again for 68 minutes. The scenes were like watercolors that flowed throughout the movie.

For once there's a movie that grandparents can take their grandchildren to and not worry about the language content. Dads, if you want to take a nap, this is the one place children will watch the movie and not disturb you.

Problems like obesity and paranoia have not kept Winnie the Pooh and his friends from the Hundred Acre Woods from securing their places as classic children's tales. In this installment, Pooh, Roo and friends go in search of the "evil" Heffalumps.

However, the preconceived notions that the characters have of the Heffalump menace quickly change. It turns out that the Heffalumps are not mean, just misunderstood; much like the clientele of Hot Topic. The plot takes the obvious turn and offers nothing original.

The songs are uninspired and feel like an afterthought, much like the rest of the movie. It's only 68 minutes long and would have been better suited for a straight-to-video release.

If you are literate enough to read this and are not enraptured with Pooh, you will find true Disney classics more enjoyable.

Four stars (out of four)

I liked this movie. It is a perfect feel-good family movie with all the makings of a hit. I took my daughter to see it and she loved it -- when she wasn't crawling on the floor.

It teaches children the value of friendship and not being afraid. It is a wonderful movie to see at least once. I loved the songs and the bond that formed between Roo and Lumpy.

My nephew and niece saw it as well and they both tried to help Lumpy get his voice so that he could call his mommy. It is a wonderfully funny and educational film.
