DC'Z Cafe
By Misty Smith
I'm not sure what is behind the name of the little restaurant right across from Towers on Sprigg, but I really liked the little "cafe". For lunch, my friend and I decided to try out their soup and sandwiches that they advertised by painting on the store windows.
I'm pretty sure that the employees and/or owners are SEMO fans because of the Indian mascot painted on the wall inside. I really like the atmosphere, it's relaxed and comfortable, with very nice servers. Right when we walked in, a man behind the counter asked us if we would like to try something new. For free, sure! We were gunea pigs for a new creation. It was a warm cinnamon bagel with cream cheese and granola with honey on top. It was actually pretty good.
I think I will eventually try everything on the menu, but when it was time to order, the tuna salad on a toasted croissant was what caught my eye. They also have salads and soups. I had a salad and my friend had potato soup with her turkey sandwich. I was happy to see that they had more to drink than just soda. They have orange juice and fruit punch too. You can also get a cappuccino or coffee.
It kind of reminded me of a diner. They have tables and booths. We picked a booth by the window, and not too long after that, our food was on its way. I couldn't wait to try the toasted bread. When I ate my sandwich, the croissant was still warm. It was a very tasty sandwich, and with a salad, it was a very good lunch. I even drank orange juice instead of soda. When we were almost finished eating, they brought us something else to try, a cream cheese filled pretzel. It was different, kind of sweet and warm, but it was pretty good.
The price of my meal wasn't exactly cheap, but the food was definitely better than fast food. A tuna salad sandwich on crossiant, a garden salad and a medium orange juice ran me about $7.50. I really liked the food and the service was very nice which made for a very good lunch. It is also in a very convenient place especially for college students or anyone who works in Downtown Cape.
