October 1 A Conversation with America: PARADE Through the Decades Photo Exhibit The Southeast Missourian and "PARADE" magazine present a nationally touring photo exhibit that captures 75 years of people and places that inspired a nation through the magazine's covers. Hosted at the Southeast Missourian building (301 Broadway), this special exhibit will be open to the public between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. during the newspaper's Centennial Celebration.

October 1 The Southeast Missourian Centennial Celebration -- A Historical Event. Join in a community celebration that marks 100 years of newspaper publishing and the community it serves. A block party with vintage cars, tours, music and entertainment is open to the general public. The celebration starts at 10:00 a.m. and ends at 4:00 p.m. Shuttle parking will be provided from the downtown lots to the Southeast Missourian building (corner of Broadway and Lorimier), the Common Pleas Courthouse gazebo, Courthouse lawn and the Southeast Missourian printing plant on 500 William Street.

October 1-9 ShowHouse of Ideas Tour Cape Girardeau's First Designer ShowHouse of Ideas and gardens. Visit nine fabulously redecorated rooms in a three-story, 1910 home, set smong extensive gardens and take home ideas to utilize in your own home. This event is a collaboration of Southeast Missouri Hospital Auxiliary and SEMO Interior Design Department to fund the purchase of a patient simulator for the training of hospital staff and nursing students. The cost is $10.00 per person or $12.00 combo ticket for Bare Bones (see August 27-28) and ShowHouse of Ideas tour. Located at 700 North Pacific.
