June 16 Nature Journaling You don't have to be a great artist to enjoy nature journaling. Come join Conservation Education Consultant Bridget Jackson from 6:30-8:30 p.m. to learn some tips and techniques to improve your artistry. Then, venture out and put them to use while enjoying nature's beauty. No artistic ability required. Registration is required. Ages 12-adult can participate. Call 573-290-5730 for more information.

June 17 Storyfest 2005 "Legends & Ghosts of Louis Lorimier" The event will commemorate the death of Louis Lorimier, founder of Cape Girardeau . Mr. Lorimier died June 26 th , 1812 and is buried at Lorimier Cemetery in Cape . The event will take place at the cemetery after dark. Presenter still to be determined. Free to the public. June 17 Tunes at Twilight 7:00 p.m. Common Pleas Courthouse lawn at the gazebo. A series of evening outdoor concerts with a picturesque view of the Mississippi River offering the perfect setting for visitors to relax and listen to music provided bynational touring musicians as well as some of Cape's finest performers. June 17,18,24,25 "The World Goes Round" June brings a musical revue which will share numbers by Fred Ebb and John Kander, from shows such as Cabaret, Chicago, and the Kiss of the Spiderwoman. Christine Beardslee will be production director. This dinner show will be at Port Cape Girardeau's River City Yacht Club. $24.95 per person (Show only dates June 22, 23 $10.00 per person). July 1 First Friday Opening Reception The First Friday Opening Reception will be held at 32 N. Main from 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. The exhibit, Girardot National Juried Exhibition, will be in the Lorimier Gallery and Gallery 100. The Visual Arts Cooperative Exhibit will be in the Jean A. July 3 Naturalist's Notebook On the first Sunday of each month, join one of the Naturalists as they select a favorite program from their notebook, set up an interesting discovery table or explore current natural events along the trail. Regardless of their selection, you'll be glad you came. July 4 Libertyfest Join the excitement of fireworks, patriotic music, and children's activities at Riverfront Park . Enjoy the largest display of fireworks on the Mississippi River in Southeast Missouri . Come and enjoy the Patriot's Parade that will begin at 6:30pm . Activities for children include clowns, balloon artists, face painters, dunking booth, antique cars, fire engines and the opportunity to meet a variety of historic figures. July 4 "Tywappity Tales" Part of Storyfest 2005 the River City Players will present the short production featuring a young cast. The show is compiled of local Native American stories which were collected and printed in the Southeast Missourian in teh 1930's. Dr. Roseanna Whitlow adapted and will direct this play. Location and time TBA.

July 4 Southeast Story Swap Part of Storyfest 2005 and Libertyfest, non professional storytellers will be invited to "swap" a story. Criteria and guidelines will be published before the event. A professional storyteller will lead the story swap. For more information call 573-335-1631.

July 4 Murals Come Alive Part of Storyfest 2005 and Libertyfest, costumed re-enactors will tell stories of some of the panels of the Mississippi River Tales Mural on the floodwall in downtown Cape Girardeau. For more information call 573-335-1631.

July 5-29 Summer Arts Camps The Arts Council of Southeast Missouri is now taking enrollment for its 30th Annual Summer Arts Camps to be held from July 5-29 for students ages newborn to adult.
