CAMPBELL, Mo. -- Pageants, parades and carnival are some of the activities scheduled for today through Aug. 27 at the annual Missouri Peach Fair in Campbell.

The festivities begin today with the Miss Missouri Peach Fair Pageant. The contest is for young women ages 16 through 21 and will be at 8 p.m. at the Campbell Community Building.

After the crowning of Miss Missouri Peach Fair, the activities will continue Saturday morning with a new addition to the fair. The Peach Fuzz 5K run will be at 8 a.m. at the Campbell Community Building. Runners may sign up in advance or the day of the run.

Darryl Worley will take the stage later that night at the annual country concert. The show will begin at 7:30 p.m. with Nashville, Tennessee, group Orchard Fire, featuring Justin and Jared Odom. Worley, of "Have You Forgotten" and "I Miss My Friend" fame, will perform at 8 p.m. Tickets are $15 in advance and may be purchased at Vancil's, Sugar Shack and city of Campbell offices. Tickets purchased at the door will be $17.50. Doors open at 7 p.m. All seats are first-come, first-served.

The fair will continue Sunday afternoon with the Baby Picture Contest. Entrants may sign up between 2 and 4 p.m. at the Campbell Community Building. Pictures must be 8x10 and in a plain black frame. Several categories will be judged for ages 0 to 4 years, boys and girls. A sibling category has been added this year for ages 0 to 18 and should be a picture of any number of siblings. Pictures should be no more than one year old.

At the same time, a Cooking with Peaches contest will be at the Community Building. Several categories will be judged, including jellies and jams, cobblers and pies, among others.

Both contests' entries will be on display Wednesday through Aug. 27 for viewing by the public.

On Tuesday, the fair will resume with the Youth Talent Show in the Community Building. The junior division will include youth ages 4 to 12. Youths ages 13 to 21 will compete in the senior division immediately after the announcement of winners in the junior division. The junior division winners will receive trophies, and the senior division will receive cash prizes. In addition, the winner of the senior division will be invited to compete in the Mid-South Fair Youth Talent Show.

The carnival begins Wednesday night. Armbands may be purchased in advance for $20 at the city offices and Sterling Bank and will be good for any night but will be honored for one night only. Armbands purchased at the fairgrounds will be $25.

On Wednesday night, bandstand entertainment will be heard from 6 to 10 p.m., with gospel music spotlighted Thursday night.

On Aug. 26, girls ages 5 to 7 will compete in the Little Miss Peach Blossom Pageant. The contest begins at 7:30 p.m. on the bandstand at the fairgrounds.

The final day of activities begins Aug. 27 with the annual parade in downtown Campbell. The parade will be followed by an Infant/Toddler Beauty Pageant. This contest will begin at noon in the Community Building, with several categories judged for boys and girls ages 0 to 4.

At 6 p.m. on the bandstand, the crowning of Little Miss Peach Queen will take place in a pageant for girls ages 8 to 11. Immediately after, a pageant for girls ages 12 to 15 will conclude the fair in the Junior Miss Peach Queen Pageant.
