Two student-directed plays about telling the truth and figuring out what it is will be presented this weekend by the International Thespian Society.

"The Curtain" and "The Millenials," both short one-act plays, will be performed beginning at 7 tonight and Saturday night.

Central High School has a chapter of the International Thespian Society. The members also belong to the school's Red Dagger Drama Society. "We wanted to do something separate from Red Dagger," says Bailey Hirschburg, one of the directors.

The senior directs "The Millenials," a play by Jessica Vaughn in which high school seniors make the difficult decisions of whether to go to college and where. One of the characters, Sally, wants to "save the spotted cows."

Hirschburg says the play "is for anyone who has ever been about to enter the so-called 'Real World.'"

The actors include Holly Pritchard, Keith Fisher, Kasper Woldtvedt, Blake Russell, Stacy Dohogne, Edgar Palacios and Carmen Scholl.

Some of the same performers appear in "The Curtain," a play in which a hypocritical father who has been in prison is confronted by his daughter and his past. The players include Blake Russell, Carly Pind, Carmen Scholl, Keith Fischer, Julianna West and Sara Burns.

The director is senior Theresa Yoffie. She says the play should appeal "not just to teenagers but to adults."

The plays are presented with minimal sets. Running time for the two is about 40 minutes.
