Green beer, live music, costume contests and more are on tap for St. Patrick's Day 2017. Here is a look at events and celebrations scheduled in the Cape Girardeau and Southeast Missouri area.
Downtown Cape Girardeau will have its annual St. Patrick's Day pub crawl, sponsored by The Library at 10 S. Spanish St., starting at 6 p.m. today. Thirteen bars within walking or crawling distance of each other will participate. Punch cards are available, and a punch from every bar qualifies entrants for a door-prize drawing. The Library, The Bar, Minglewood Brewery, Pour House, Rude Dog Pub, Buckner's, Ragsdales Pub, Dempsey's Drinkery, Port Cape Girardeau, Coin-Op Cantina, Blue Diamond Sports Bar, Hotshots and Mixing 10 are the places to be.
Ragsdales at 132 N. Main St. in Cape Girardeau also will be celebrating its first anniversary today, starting at 8 p.m. In addition to the pub crawl, customers may enter a drawing to win two tickets to see Chris Stapleton perform in a sold-out April 28 show at the Show Me Center.
Arena Golf will host its fifth annual St. Patrick's Putt Putt Golf Tournament from 4 to 7 p.m. today at 2901 Hawthorne Road in Cape Girardeau. Green beer will be flowing, and live music will be coming in from Alex Beaird Band. Dexter Queen's food truck will be serving up barbecue. Tickets are $20 per person and include two drink tickets for those 21 and older. For more information, call (573) 332-0860.
In Sikeston, a St. Patrick's Day celebration at Malone Park will include a home-brew competition from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. Top private and commercial brewers from all over the tri-state area will compete, and a beer sampling for those 21 and older will be part of the festivities. Tickets for the sampling are $12 and include a souvenir glass. Proceeds will benefit downtown Sikeston restoration projects. Used and Refused will provide live music from noon until 4 p.m. A St. Patrick's Day costume contest will award a prize for best costume. Food, drink and craft vendors will be on site and are open to the public. This family-friendly event also welcomes dogs. Chocolate Works will host a candy-making party for little lads and lassies from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday at 411 Broadway in Cape Girardeau.
