The Arts Council of Southeast Missouri announces an exhibition of contemporary sculpture by IMINIMI, at Gallery 100, 119 Independence St. in downtown Cape Girardeau.
The exhibit will open with a reception on Friday, May 4, from 5-8 p.m. and will continue on display through Saturday, May 26. The exhibit and opening reception are free and open to the public.
IMINIMI, (pronounced Ee-nim-uh-nee) is an artist group that consists of four members: Roger Rapp, BUG (yes BUG), Kent Smith and Rick Visser, from Denver, Colo. The exhibit consists of freestanding sculptural works, wall-hung relief sculptures and paintings.
BUG uses materials that are mainly metal and found objects; Roger Rapp uses the patterns of genetic material as inspiration; Kent Smith expresses through bronze and the human form; and Rick Visser focuses upon the interplay between beauty and oppression.
