Art workshop for women set

"Women's Day of Art," teaching women easy art techniques in short sessions, will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 15 at the Crisp Museum on the Southeast Missouri State University's River Campus. The workshop will include instructions on printmaking, painting, cards and collage, as well as a tour of the gallery. No experience is necessary, and supplies will be provided. Participants must register by Tuesday.

Diebold to host Oktoberfest

BENTON, Mo. -- Deadline for crafters and artists to register for the Diebold Orchards Oktoberfest at Benton is Tuesday. The celebration will be Oct. 10 and 11, and cost is $10 for a space. In previous years, Oktoberfest has drawn more than 5,000 visitors. Family-friendly activities during the day will include hayrides and tours, a corn maze, apple-butter making, a scarecrow-making contest and a pumpkin-carving competition.
