Gospeland has local authors' book signings

Gospeland book store in Cape Girardeau will welcome local authors today and Saturday. Mike Jones will open sales and sign his new book, "Finding God in the Storms of Life," from 4 to 6 p.m. today at Gospeland. Authors Zadora Covington with "My Spiritual Journey into God's Presence," Bonnie Cebulak with "From a Pothead to a Preacher's Wife" and Stan Crader with "The Bridge" will also be present. The authors will return to the book store from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.

Moscow Ballet welcomes young dancers

The Moscow Ballet will hold an open audition for local young dancers to take part in the December showing of its "Great Russian Nutcracker" in Cape Girardeau. Auditions will be at 1 p.m. Oct. 18. at Dance Extensions in Jackson. Performers must be between 7 and 16 and have dance experience. For more information, contact Jackie Robertson at 243-1176. The Moscow Ballet's "Great Russian Nutcracker" will be at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 14 in Bedell Hall.

Southeast Missouri State University's National Public Radio station, KRCU, presents "Classical Vibrance: A Night at the Ballet" with a cocktail party, live auction and Russian-themed appetizers in honor of the Moscow Ballet's Dec. 14 performance of its "Great Russian Nutcracker." The cocktail party starts at 5:30 p.m. and the ballet begins at 7:30. Tickets are $125 and include events and the ballet. They are available at KRCU or by calling 888-651-5070.
