Fall concert at Bollinger Mill

Arts Council calls for artists

Artists are encouraged to submit works interpreting Southeast Missouri and its bordering states to the Arts Council of Southeast Missouri, 32 N. Main St., for the 2015 Regional Juried Exhibit. The two-month show will be juried by painter James F. Wilson, artist-in-residence professor at Mineral Area College in Park Hills, Missouri. Deadline for the exhibition is Oct. 16. Art contest part of Pet Fest 2015

Pet Fest 2015, featuring a children's art contest, will be staged from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 11 at Busch Pet Products, 1720 Kingsway Drive in Cape Girardeau. Busch Pet Products and the Arts Council of Southeast Missouri are sponsoring the event, which will include booths providing information about pets' medicinal needs, pet adoption services, training and pet rescues and fun activities, including a pet-and-owner look-alike contest. Official Pet Fest drawing papers are available at the Arts Council and can be downloaded at www.capearts.org/PetFestContest.aspx. Artwork can be dropped off at the council until Oct. 10. Early entries will be displayed at the festival.

First Friday includes Trick Art Treat

"Trick Art Treat" will be part of the monthly First Friday with the Arts from 5 to 9 p.m. Oct. 2 in downtown Cape Girardeau. The event will include a costume contest, spooky stories, candy, live music, a hay ride, photo booth and more. Watch for more details on the Trick Art Treat page on Facebook.

Theater troupe raises money with Krispy Kreme

Acting Out!, a community theater group, will hold a "Night of the Living Dead" fundraiser by selling Krispy Kreme doughnuts. A dozen doughnuts are $8, and orders must be submitted by Sept. 26 at www.actingoutsemo.com. Pickup of orders will be Oct. 5, and payment is due at that time. Acting Out!'s production of "Night of the Living Dead" will be staged at 7 p.m. Oct. 16 and 17 at the Capaha Park band shell.

Adult dance classes offered

On Cue Performing Arts Studio, 20 N. Main St., is offering adult ballroom, Latin and swing dance classes for experienced and inexperienced dancers. Partners aren't necessary. Classes will be from 5 to 6 p.m. on Sundays for Latin and swing dance, rotating weekly, and from 8 to 9 p.m. on Wednesdays for swing and Lindy hop. Catapult calls for products

Catapult Creative House, 612 Broadway, is hosting a call for product from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 2. Those who make an awesome product or are avid crafters and pinners with items to sell are encouraged to bring samples to the store. If the store managers like the product, it could be sold through Catapult Creative House. Don't bring food, because the store cannot purchase it.
