The Apple Creek Memorial Association will present its second annual Fall Vesper Singing Service at 6:30 p.m. Sunday at the old Apple Creek Presbyterian Church, east of Pocahontas off County Road 532. The event will include performances from Southern Harmony and Abbie Fieser and Friends.
A plein-air art event will be held all day Wednesday through Sept. 25 along North Main Street in downtown Ste. Genevieve, Missouri. Contemporary artists are invited to join the realms of the famous regionalist artists of the 1930s by painting outdoors in the scenic Ste. Genevieve area. The Equinox Rock Festival will be from 2 p.m. to midnight Sept. 23 at Blue Diamond Sports Bar, 26 N. Main St. in Cape Girardeau. The event will feature live performances by the Pat Travers Band, the Kris Bell Band, Captain Howdy and more. There will be a $3 cover to enter the event before 9 p.m., and there will be ticket raffles and prize giveaways. Tickets for the Pat Travers Band show will cost $12 in advance or $15 at the door. GlassRoots will present a glass-blowing demonstration, featuring Grady from HillJack Glass, from noon to 8 p.m. Sept. 24 at GlassRoots, 907 Broadway in Cape Girardeau. Grady is a glass-blowing veteran and has been creating since 1999.
RNR Church and the band Stronghold will host a free concert from 7 to 9 p.m. Sept. 24, at the Jackson band shell in Jackson City Park. The event will include a worship service followed by a concert by Stronghold. For more information, call Stephen at (573) 352-0005.
The Southeast Missouri State University Department of Music will present a concert titled "All Minimalism" at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 25 in the Shuck Music Recital Hall at the River Campus, 518 S. Fountain St. in Cape Girardeau. The program will feature more than a dozen music-department faculty and students in three works by masters of minimalism, John Adams, Gavin Bryars and Arvo Part. Tickets will cost $10 and may be purchased at the River Campus box office, by calling (573) 651-2265 or at www.rivercampus.org.
Southeast Missouri State University's Earl and Margie Holland School of Visual and Performing Arts will host an open house for high-school students to experience a day in the life at the River Campus from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sept. 27, at the River Campus, 518 S.
