Art exhibition entries due Monday
Entries for the Arts Council of Southeast Missouri's annual Regional Juried Art Exhibition are due Monday. Artists, age 18 and older, who live within 175 miles of Cape Girardeau can submit works interpreting the people, places and things that represent the region. Categories will include painting, 3-D, graphic and mixed media. Entry forms and submission details at www.capearts.org. Peter Nguyen, director of the Crisp Museum, will judge the contest. A $500 Best in Show prize will be awarded. Other awards will be determined by the number of entries received. The selected works will be displayed at the Arts Council's gallery in November. Dingeldein Award nominations taken
The Arts Council of Southeast Missouri is accepting nominations for the Dingeldein Award for Excellence, named for Otto F. Dingeldein. The award recognizes individuals whose artistic achievements have had considerable effect on the cultural enrichment of the community through the support of, or participation in the arts in any of the areas of drama, writing, visual arts, music or dance. The award can be given to artists, nonartists or organizations. A nomination form can be found at www.capearts.org.
Watercolor workshop set for Sept. 18 to 20
Internationally known watercolorist Paul Jackson will host an instructional watercolor workshop in Cape Girardeau from Sept. 18 to 20. Jackson will cover painting still life with glass objects. The workshop will be from 3:30 to 9 p.m. Sept. 18, and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 19 and 20. Cost for the workshop is $300. For more details or to register, visit www.pauljackson.com/calendar.asp.
