Festival to have 'Cotton Art Competition'

@SL_body_copy_ragged:SIKESTON, Mo. -- Plans are underway for a "Cotton Art Competition" as part of the second annual Cotton Heritage Festival sponsored by Sikeston's Historic Midtown Development Group. The festival is planned for Sept. 27. The competition is open to all forms of "cotton art" including paintings, photography, needlepoint or crafts with a cotton theme. The contest will be divided into two age categories: 16-and-under and 17-and-over. The top three finishers in each division will receive prizes. Entries must be turned into the Sikeston Depot Museum or the Historic Midtown Development Group office in the Sikeston City Hall by 4 p.m. Sept. 23. A $5 entry fee will be charge per piece. All entries will be displayed in the Sikeston Depot Museum from Sept. 25 through Oct. 28.
