The Bootheel Quilters' Guild of Sikeston is hosting its eighth biennial quilt show Saturday and Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Clinton Building on Campanella Drive in the Sikeston Sports Complex. Dozens of handmade quilts, a bed turning of antique quilts, craft items for sale, and vendors will be available. A raffle quilt will be given away Sunday afternoon. Panic! At The Disco will headline a new concert event --- Charter Center Stage. It will be webcast live on Facebook from the Alliant Energy Center on Oct. 15 in Madison, Wis. Along with two other national acts, one local music act from 11 regions across the U.S. will win up to $25,000 in prizes and open the bill. Online submissions are being accepted on Facebook at Facebook.com/chartercom. A microsite -- Charter.com/concert -- just opened for local bands to get in the contest that will be voted on in a virtual battle of the bands. Bands have until Aug. 24 to enter. Beginning Aug. 11, fans will vote for the bands they like best. The 11 bands with the most votes will advance to a national voting round. The band chosen in the final round will win up to $25,000 in prizes and will open the Charter Center Stage featuring Panic! At The Disco on Oct. 15, which will also be streamed live at Facebook.com/chartercom. Charter Communications will announce later how fans can get free tickets to the show in Madison.
