Open house planned at Trail of Tears

The public is invited to bring ideas to an open house at Trail of Tears State Park on Sunday. Sponsored by Missouri State Parks, the event will take place from 1 to 4 p.m. The park has completed many projects and renovations in the last year, and representatives from the park will be on hand to provide information about the facilities and answer questions. Several events will be scheduled throughout the day, including an outing hosted by the Swamp Candle Birders, a variety of scavenger hunts, a concert by the Shoestring Band and a kids fishing event. The open house will include a book signing by Ron Cooper, author of "This Is My Trail Too," who walked 835 miles on the Trail of Tears. People requiring special services or accommodations to attend the meeting or who want more information may call 290-5268.

Tickets on sale for ‘Fairy Tales'

Tickets are on sale for "Three Classic Fairy Tales" presented by Disney Live! More than 25 Disney characters will be featured in this new stage production from Field Entertainment. Show are at 3 and 6 p.m. on Oct. 25 at the Show Me Center in Cape Girardeau. The three fairy tales are "Snow White," "Cinderella" and "Beauty and the Beast."
