Ivas John to play Tunes at Twilight

The Scott City Community Interactive Parks Program will hold its second annual summer day camp June 18 to 22 and June 25 to 29 at the Scott City Park. Artists are invited to paint with mud

PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Artists who would like to try their hand at painting with mud are invited to participate in the 573 Mud Festival at Perryville on July 14. Artists will be competing for a $100 cash prize for the best painting. The competition is free to enter; artists must furnish their own canvasses. To enter, email editor@573mag.com.

New parakeet exhibit opens at Lazy L

A new exhibit, Parakeet Jungle, has opened at the Lazy L Safari Park, 2763 County Road 618. Parakeet Jungle is a large aviary of more than 100 parakeets, where customers can walk in and feed the parakeets with a feedstick. Feedsticks can be purchased for $1 each or six for $5. Entrance to the exhibit is included with the zoo admission price of $5 per person (ages 2 and up), plus sales tax. Parakeet Jungle originally opened at West Park Mall in Cape Girardeau, where it operated from November 2009 through March 2010, and then again in November and December 2010. The owners, Todd and Vicki Lantz, who also own Lazy L Safari Park, decided to incorporate Parakeet Jungle into the zoo operation as a summertime exhibit.
