Cape Girardeau Councilwoman and author Evelyn Boardman will sign copies of her book "Chocolate Dancing" from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Hastings Books, Music and Video, 2136 William St.

Tunes at Twilight features husband-wife duo DalzielThe husband-and-wife duo Dalziel will perform at Tunes at Twilight from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Common Pleas Courthouse gazebo in Cape Girardeau. In the event of rain, they will perform at Grace Cafe, 835 Broadway.

Arts Council garage sale on Saturday

The Arts Council of Southeast Missouri is holding a garage sale starting at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Plaza Galleria on Independence Street in Cape Girardeau. The sale is the group's final fund-raiser of the fiscal year. Donations of items to sell will be accepted today at the Plaza Galleria.

Muny's Lichtenstein Plaza dedication on MondayThe Muny in St. Louis will hold a dedication ceremony for the new Lichtenstein Plaza from 12:45 to 1:40 p.m. Monday. The plaza, located at the top of the theater near the free seats, features a new box office, a lighting booth, landscaping and architectural columns. Crossover Christian music at Lake of the OzarksThe sixth annual Crossover Christian Music Festival will continue until Saturday at the Stoneridge Amphitheater in Camdenton, Mo. French social gathering at Ste. GenevieveAs part of this weekend's French Heritage Festival, the town of Ste. Genevieve will hold a French candlelight veillee from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the Felix Valle House State Historic Site at 198 Merchant St. Visitors can watch French folk dances performed by site staff and community volunteers in period costume and listen to French folk tales in the garden. Man of Steel celebratedThe Superman Celebration in Metropolis, Ill., began Thursday and continues through Sunday. This year's main attraction is a visit from Lou Ferrigno, who played the comic-book character the Hulk on the television show "The Incredible Hulk." In addition to Ferrigno, Noel Neill, who played Lois Lane on the original "Superman" television series, will be at the celebration. There will be contests and music, and on Saturday, the Superman Classic Bench Press/Deadlift Championships will be held in the Man of Steel Tent. Arts Council seeking design proposalsThe Missouri Arts Council is looking for artists from all over the state to submit design proposals for the 2005 Missouri Arts Awards. The awards are presented to individuals or organizations that have made an positive impact on Missouri's cultural climate. Submissions must be postmarked by June 30, and artists must submit an application form, sketches that illustrate their idea for the award, a typed letter of intent describing their ideas and a resume.
