Leslie Samples, a dance student at Southeast Missouri State University from West Frankfort, Ill., has been accepted into two internationally acclaimed summer dance programs. Samples was selected for both the American Dance Festival in Durham, N.C., and the Paul Taylor Dance Company summer intensive workshop in New York City.

Vicki Outman, an artist from Jackson, won a Juror's Choice award in the 2005 Good Vintage traveling art exhibit, now showing at Gallery 100, l32 N. Main St. in Cape Girardeau. The Cape Girardeau Lewis and Clark Bicentennial Commission has announced the annual Red House Ball fund raiser will be held June 25 from 7 to 11 p.m. at the Arena Building in Cape Girardeau. The ball will raise money for the Red House Foundation and will feature music by Manitou, food and drink, a historical costume fashion show, traditional dancing and other special events. Auditions for "Tywappity Tales," a performance of American Indian stories, will be held Monday at 6 p.m. at Port Cape Girardeau. Cast members needed are young performers -- children, teens and tweens -- with no preparation needed for auditions.
