Lazy L announces summer schedule

The summer and the monkeys will be in full swing at the Lazy L Safari Park starting Saturday. The walk-through zoo will be open daily from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day. Hours are from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., with the zoo closing at 7 p.m. Memorial Day weekend activities include both camel and pony rides operating Saturday, Sunday and Monday. Crisp Museum offers ‘Waterworx' academy

The Crisp Museum at Southeast Missouri State University's River Campus is hosting Waterworx, a four-day, summer academy for youth June 5 to 8. Participants will experience a number of interesting and fun hands-on activities focusing on water. Topics include machines, geography, science and art. A morning session for children ages 4 to 8 will run from 9 to 11 a.m. Adult supervision is required for preschoolers. An afternoon session for youth ages 9 to 15 is scheduled for 1 to 4 p.m. Because of limited seating, pre-registration is required for this free event. Author to sign books in area Thursday

H. Ray Sigler, author of "Tyrone Dust: A Saga of the West Plains to Rolla Road," will be in on Southeast Missouri Thursday signing copies of his book. Sigler, a native of Texas County, Mo., will be signing books from 9 to 9:30 a.m. at the Perryville, Mo., library; from 10:30 to 11 a.m. at Riverside Regional Library at Jackson; from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Cape Girardeau Public Library; from 1:30 to 2 p.m. at the Mississippi County Library at Charleston, Mo.; from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. at the Sikeston (Mo.) Depot; from 4 to 4:30 p.m. at the Keller Public Library at Dexter, Mo.; about 5 p.m. at the Poplar Bluff (Mo.) Public Library; and from 6 to 7 p.m. at Hastings Entertainment at Poplar Bluff.
