Art academy opens summer enrollment

Enrollment has opened for the Summer Art Academy Workshops hosted by the Arts Council of Southeast Missouri and Southeast Missouri State University. The seven weeklong, half-day workshops cover drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, mixed media, ceramics and mural making. Each workshop is $80 and offers a morning or afternoon session at Southeast's art studios. Ages for workshops vary. The Summer High School Art Workshop will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 7 to 11 at Southeast's art studios. It will cover several mediums and techniques and cost $200. ArtsCape street painting on May 22

The Street Painting festival that will highlight the 2010 ArtsCape in Capaha Park will be from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. May 22. Fees are $15, which include a box of soft pastels and an assigned sidewalk section on the path around the pond. People can enter at any time during the festival. Prizes will be awarded for winning drawings in children, teen and adult categories.
