A student performance of Rodgers and Hammerstein's "Cinderella" will be presented at 7 p.m. Thursday through April 16 and at 2 p.m. April 17 in the Richard D. Kinder Performance Hall, 1000 S. Silver Springs Road in Cape Girardeau. Tickets for the event will cost $7 for students and faculty and $10 for the general public. The Cape Girardeau Conservation Nature Center will host artist Dave Carter, who creates animal paintings based on his nature photography through the windows of his Cape Girardeau home, from 1 to 4 p.m. April 16 at the center, 2289 County Park Drive in Cape Girardeau. Carter will be available to meet and observe while he paints. The event is free and open to the public.
The Taste of Cape restaurant hop, held by the Southeast Missouri State University Theatre and Dance Society, will be from 5 to 8 p.m. April 19 at various locations in Cape Girardeau. Participating locations are Andy's Frozen Custard, Bistro Saffron, Chocolate Works, Ciao, Cup 'n' Cork, Imo's Pizza, Jimmy John's, Marco's Pizza, Minglewood Brewery, Mississippi Mutts, My Daddy's Cheesecake, Pho8 and Primo Vino. Tickets for the event are $10 each and will allow participants to have a taste of each location's signature items. Tickets may be purchased by calling (573) 651-2149 and also will be available to purchase the night of the event at any participating location. Proceeds will benefit Southeast's Department of Theatre and Dance.
The Southeast Missouri State University River Campus Art Gallery will present four exhibitions to display an array of graduating seniors' artwork at the 2016 Graduating Seniors Bachelor of Fine Arts Exhibitions from April 18 to May 13. The first exhibition will be April 18 to 22 and will have a closing reception from 5 to 7 p.m. April 22. The second will be from April 25 to 29 and will have a closing reception from 5 to 7 p.m. April 29. The third will be from May 2 to 6 and will have a closing reception from 5 to 7 p.m. May 6. The final exhibition will be from May 9 to 13 and will have a closing reception from 5 to 7 p.m. May 13.
Registration is open for a watercolor workshop planned from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 6 and 7 in the Crisp Museum at Southeast Missouri State University's River Campus. The workshop for adults will be led by Daven Anderson, a self-described representational painter whose work will be on display in the River Campus Museum in conjunction with the workshop.
