As a part of the 35th anniversary celebration of the founding of Southeast Missouri State University's Historic Preservation Program, three authors -- John Colburn, Bill Hart and David Jackson -- will hold a book signing from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday at Heritage Hall, 102 N. Main St. in Cape Girardeau. The authors will have a variety of their published works related to historic preservation to sign for attendees.
A new exhibit featuring Tom Runnels' art will open at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Bollinger County Museum of Natural History, 207 Mayfield Drive in Marble Hill, Missouri. Runnels was a local artist, writer and sculptor. Metal sculptures, paintings and prints by Runnels will be on display. Sandy Runnels and Jeanie Eddleman will be at the museum to speak with visitors about Runnels' life and work at 2 p.m. Saturday. Regular admission to the museum will apply: $5 for adults and $2 for those 17 and younger.
Celebrating the Piano with Carolyn True will begin at 3 p.m. Sunday in Shuck Recital Hall on the Southeast Missouri State University River Campus, 518 S. Fountain St. in Cape Girardeau. The Southeast Missouri State University Symphony Orchestra, University Choir and Choral Union will present "Lux Aeterna" at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Bedell Performance Hall at the River Campus, 518 S. Fountain St. in Cape Girardeau. The concert also will feature winners of this year's Concerto and Aria and Rising Star Competitions, Evan Watkins on piano and Julie Holzen on cello, performing pieces by Grieg and Dvorak. Songs Against Slavery will host its 22nd benefit concert from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Cape Bible Chapel, 2911 Kage Road in Cape Girardeau. Artists will include opener Adelaide and Cape Girardeau native Ryan Corn. Tickets are $10 for students and $15 for the general public and may be purchased at the door or online at songsagainstslavery.org. A portion of the proceeds will go to The Covering House, a not-for-profit organization that provides refuge and counseling for sexually exploited and trafficked children.

"Larry Braun: Transition Spaces 16.1" will open at 10 a.m. April 29 in the Crisp Museum on the Southeast Missouri State University River Campus, 518 S. Fountain St. in Cape Girardeau. A public reception will be from 4 to 8 p.m. April 29, with an artist's talk at 6 p.m. The exhibit will remain on display through June 12, and admission is free.
