Concert benefits scholarship program
Proceeds from a five-band concert Saturday at Breakaways will help the Tommy DeWolf Musician's Scholarship Fund, sponsored by the City of Roses Music Heritage Association. Dissonance, Single Note Jane, Stella Blue, Ninth Life and Drivin Rain will play from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. The music offers something for everyone, from top 40s to classic rock, pop rock, modern progressive to late-night hard rock. All proceeds go to the scholarship fund.
New program features upcoming artists
Southeast Public Radio has added "All Songs Considered," National Public Radio's popular eclectic music program, to its schedule. The program airs at 9 p.m. every Friday. "All Songs Considered" is NPR's guide to discovering new music below the radar. Every week, host Bob Boilen and producer Robin Hilton go through hundreds of new CDs to find sneak previews of music worth getting excited about. "All Songs Considered" has hosted artists such as Lily Allen and Bright Eyes spinning their favorite tunes, or webcasts of concerts by musicians like Wilco, Bjork, Sigur Ros or Ben Gibbard.
