Baker takes Best of Show in Southeast exhibition
Southeast Missouri State University student Lindsey Baker was given the Best of Show award for her work "De Lis" in the university's annual Student Juried Art Assessment Exhibition. The Distinguished Merit award went to Rochelle Steffen for her work "Monte" and her overall body of work. Other merit awards, given in several categories, went to: Lynn Robey for drawing, Utahna Hancock for ceramics, Carol Kuehnle for sculpture, Hannah Hart for painting, Jason Stoff for graphic design/illustration, Kelly Almond for printmaking, Adam Hauck for new genre, Molly Summers for fibers, Jonathan Thompson for digital arts and Rachel Silvers for 2-D/3-D design foundations. Honorable mentions were awarded to Jennifer Catron and Cassandra Sissom. The exhibition is on display at the Southeast Missouri Regional Museum through April 23.
The 16th Annual Mississippi River Scenic drive will take place April 22 and 23 at various communities throughout Southeast Missouri. River City Players announce auditions for next comedy
The River City Players will hold auditions for its next production of the season, the comedy "The Real Thing" by Tom Stoppard.
The intellectual comedy focuses on a playwright, his second wife and a political prisoner who is in reality a thug.
Auditions will consist of cold reads at 6:30 p.m. April 26 and 27 and 1 p.m. April 29 at the River City Yacht Club.

'Monty Python' starts on WSIU Saturday night
CARBONDALE, Ill. -- One of Great Britain's best-known exports is set to begin airing on WSIU-TV this Saturday when the station begins regular broadcasts of "Monty Python's Flying Circus."
The first two episodes will air this Saturday and April 22 at 10:30 p.m., followed by back-to-back episodes on following Saturdays. The series will continue until all 45 episodes have been shown.
Tickets on sale for 'Technicolor Dreamcoat'

CJHS's production of the famous Andrew Lloyd Webber musical runs from May 10 to 12 in the Cape Central Junior High Auditorium at 7 p.m. each night.
Wind Symphony, Concert Band perform pops concert
The Southeast Missouri State University Wind Symphony and Concert Band will perform a pops concert at 7:30 p.m. April 27 in the University Center Ballroom.
Selections to be performed include "Hobbits" by Johann De Meij, "Third Suite" by Robert Jager, "Overture for Winds" by Charles Carter and "Valdres March" by Johannes Hanssen.

Ringling Bros. Circus starts Monday at Show Me Center
The Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus starts a three-night run at the Show Me Center on Monday.

ST. LOUIS -- The Young Friends of the St. Louis Art Museum invite young professionals in the area to enjoy "April in Paris" at 6:30 p.m. Saturday.
The event is a fund-raiser for the organization, and will create a Parisian atmosphere for young art enthusiasts to enjoy.
The fundraiser theme coincides with the museum's current exhibition, "Impressionist Camera: Pictorial Photography in Europe, 1888-1918."
