Workshop to teach comic-book drawing

The Arts Council of Southeast Missouri and Cape Comic Con are offering a free Saturday Social comic-book drawing workshop from 1 to 3 p.m Saturday at the Arts Council, 32 N. Main St. in Cape Girardeau. The workshop is open to all ages, but parental supervision is required for children younger than 12. Instructors for the workshop will be comic-book artists Nathan Bonner and Brian Rhodes. Bonner and Rhodes will be exhibiting vendors at Cape Comic Con on April 17 through 19 at the Osage Centre. Art boards created at the Saturday Social event will be eligible for the CAPED! exhibition on display April 18 at Comic Con. In addition, the Arts Council will accept artwork until April 17 for inclusion in this one-day exhibit, in both adult and youth divisions. Museum to open, announces speakers

The Cape River Heritage Museum, 538 Independence St., will open its 2015 season from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. Admission is $3 for adults and $2 for children. The museum's normal business hours are 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. The museum also announced its speaker series: Dr. Frank Nickell, April 4, "The Green Book, African-American Travel Guide"; Chief Paul White Eagle, May 2, July 18 and Nov. 7, "Native American Culture"; David Dickey, June 6, "Honorable Betty Hearnes, Lifetime of Service to Missouri"; Judge Stephen Limbaugh Jr., Aug. 1, "Fort A, River Vista"; Bert and Mary Ann Kellerman, Sept. 5, "The Flag House"; and Kaye Hamblin, Oct. 3, "Finding Julia, Early Development of Southeast Missouri." Rude Dog Pub will host mandolinist

Mandolinist Bryan Ranney will bring his "Not a Ukulele" tour to Cape Girardeau on March 27 when he appears at the Rude Dog Pub. The Big Idea also will perform. 'The Dining Room' set for Rust Flex Theatre

"The Dining Room," a comedy centered around a dining room set that is owned by a variety of families from different time periods, will be performed at 7:30 p.m. March 27 and 28 by the university's Department of Theatre and Dance at the Rust Flexible Theatre on Southeast Missouri State University's River Campus. The actors will play a variety of roles in each scene. Tickets are on sale at the River Campus box office by calling 651-2265 or by visiting RiverCampusEvents.com.

Acting Out! plans trivia night

Acting Out! will hold its second annual trivia night at 7 p.m. March 28 at Cup n' Cork, 11 S. Spanish St., in Cape Girardeau. The event will help raise money for Acting Out!'s coming season. Along with teams of six to nine trivia savvy people, tables will also be available for single players to form teams. Prizes will be awarded winning teams, and there will be a 50/50 raffle.
