Children's Art Display open to public

The Cape Girardeau Parks and Recreation Department invited the Arts Council of Southeast Missouri to display a selection of children's artwork from the Children's Art Festival, which was conducted in February, at the Osage Centre, 1625 N. Kingshighway in Cape Girardeau. The artwork will be on display through May.

Comic-book drawing workshop scheduled

A comic-book drawing workshop will be held in collaboration with the Cape Comic Con on April 2 at Codefi, 339 Broadway in Cape Girardeau. Artists Nathan Bonner of "Indavo" and Brian Rhodes of "Mike and the Ninja" will conduct the workshop. The event is free and open to the public. For more information, call Codefi at (573) 335-9675.

Creative workshop planned at Catapult

A creative workshop led by Rick Burchett, a comic-book artist who has worked for DC Comics, will be at 9:30 a.m. April 14 at Catapult Creative House, 612 Broadway in Cape Girardeau. The day will be split into two sections, with the morning session from 9:30 a.m. to noon for students and university groups. The afternoon session will be from 2 to 4:30 p.m. and will be for community groups. Both sessions will include an artist talk, followed by the comic-art workshop. Outdoor sculpture exhibit to be revealed

The Public Art Committee of Cape Girardeau will reveal the city's third public outdoor art exhibition at a special reception at 6 p.m. April 15 at the Vasterling Suites Courtyard, 151 N. Fountain St. The show will feature seven pieces to be placed along Broadway in Cape Girardeau for one year.

Comic Con to feature 'CAPED!' exhibition

All are welcome to submit their original character, whether it be a superhero or supervillain, for the Cape Comic Con "CAPED!" exhibition. Capes are welcome but not required. The exhibition will be on display April 16 in the Rogues Gallery at the Osage Centre, 1625 N. Kingshighway, during the Comic Con. There will be three age groups for judging: ages 12 and younger; ages 13 to 18; and ages 18 and older. Lorenzo Lizana, featured guest artist and art director at Lion Forge Comics, will judge the artwork. Pieces can be submitted between April 1 and 13 to the Arts Council of Southeast Missouri on official Cape Comic Con ArtBoards, or on paper or cardstock between 8-by-10 inches and 14-by-17 inches.
