Classical guitar concert at Christ Episcopal

Classical guitarist and Southeast Missouri State University alumnus Patrick Rafferty will present a free concert of solo guitar music at 8 p.m. Wednesday at Christ Episcopal Church, 101 N. SEMO faculty, student presented with awards

Southeast Missouri State University senior Jennifer Hotop of Jackson and mass communication professor Fred Jones were recently honored with awards from the Broadcast Education Association for scriptwriting. Hotop, a mass communication major, won the Best of Festival award in the BEA's Student Scriptwriting Competition and received first place in the Feature Film category. Jones was awarded honors for Best of Festival and first place in the Themed Short Script category in the Faculty Scriptwriting Competition. Hotop will be honored April 28 at a BEA ceremony in Las Vegas.

'The Pirates of Penzance' tickets now on sale

Tickets are now on sale for the Central High School production of Gilbert and Sullivan's "The Pirates of Penzance," showing March 30 to April 1 at 7:30 p.m. in the Central Junior High School auditorium. For more information, call Central High School at 335-8228.

Apple Creek 'Hee-Haw' show returns March 24

The annual Perry County hoe-down "Hee-Haw Apple Creek Style" returns to the Perry Park Center in Perryville, Mo., March 24 to 26 for the production's 26th year. New Madrid Lions Club planning car show

NEW MADRID, Mo. -- The New Madrid County Lions Club will sponsor its first open car show on April 22. Arts, crafts and live entertainment will be offered at the event. Indoor bluegrass festival in Eureka this weekend

Best of the Big Muddy comes to Carbondale this weekend

Missouri to celebrate Thomas Hart Benton

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - The inaugural Thomas Hart Benton Festival is scheduled for April 21 to 23 at numerous locations throughout Benton's home of Newton County and in Joplin. Activities will include art history presentations, photo exhibits, a mural competition, a symposium on Benton's art and a display of his works.
