The local band Southpaw, who played last year's City of Roses Music Festival, will play at several venues in Southeast Missouri starting Saturday. The band plays at 9 p.m. Saturday at Dixie's in Sikeston. Mo. At 9 p.m. March 20, the band will play at Kelso Country Club in Kelso, Mo. Southpaw will be back in Sikeston on April 4 and at Broussard's in Cape Girardeau on May 7 and 8.

Montana folk musician to perform in Cape Girardeau

Singer-songwriter Amy Martin will be performing a 50-minute set starting at 2 p.m. Saturday at Cafe Azu in Cape Girardeau. From Missoula, Mont., Martin has performed at Southeast Missouri State University and at a house concert in Cape Girardeau last year. This time Martin is stopping by as part of her Midwest tour. At Saturday's show there will also be Russian vodkas and wines available for sale.

Bars plan activities for St. Patrick's Day

On Wednesday some bars and restaurants will help people celebrate St. Patrick's Day with the 16th annual pub crawl that will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. in Old Town Cape. Those taking part can get in to any participating bar or restaurant for free and have a card punched at each venue. The Royal N'Orleans restaurant, which is taking part in the crawl, will serve corned beef and cabbage with potatoes.

A night of murder and dinner offered by winery

Murder Mystery Dinner Theater will present a three-act audience participation performance of the mystery "The Hills Are Alive with Murder" at the Cache River Basin Vineyard and Winery in Belknap, Ill., on Saturday. Act one begins at 7 p.m. and is followed by dinner. Act two will conclude with dessert. For more information call (618) 658-2274.

Youth art on display at Westfield Shoppingtown

The Jackson school district art department will hold an exhibit of selected kindergarten through 12th-grade artwork at Westfield Shoppingtown West Park from Monday through March 27.

Piano recital scheduled for Thursday evening

Diana Weaver Peoples will be giving a free piano recital at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 7p.m. on Thursday. Peoples grew up in Cape Girardeau and is the musical director of St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church in Austin, Texas.
