'Views of Missouri' on display at Nature Center

"Views of Missouri," a collection of photographs by members of the River Region Photo Association, will be on display from Tuesday through March 31 at the Cape Girardeau Conservation Nature Center. The show may be viewed during the normal business hours, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.

'Mushrooms and Slime Molds' at Nature Center

Mark Bower's "Mushrooms and Slime Molds of the Ozarks" exhibit is on display in the lobby of the Cape Girardeau Conservation Nature Center this month. It may be seen during the center's regular business hours, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. The exhibit will be shown from Tuesday through March 31.

Drum music featured at concert

Southeast Missouri State University's Department of Music will present the "Season of Wind Symphony: Drum Music" at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Bedell Performance Hall on the River Campus. Tickets are $10.

ArtReach! seeks volunteers

Volunteers are needed for ArtReach!: Spring 2015, which is an after-school arts education program for under-served populations. Sessions will be from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. March 3, 10, 24 and 31 and April 14 and 20 at Jefferson Elementary School; from 3:45 to 4:45 p.m. March 25 and April 1, 8, 15, 22 and 29 at The Bridge Center in South Cape Girardeau; from 9 to 10 a.m. March 7, 14 and 21 and April 4, 11 and 18 at the Cape Girardeau Public Library; and from 11 a.m. to noon March 6, 13 and 27 and April 10, 17 and 24 at the Community Counseling Center's Psychosocial Rehabilitation Youth Program at Cape Academy. Arts Council hosts reception for VSA exhibit

The Arts Council of Southeast Missouri, 32 N. Main St., in Cape Girardeau will host a reception for a traveling VSA: Missouri exhibit, "Turning the Clocks Forward Again," from 5 to 9 p.m. March 6. There will be an accompanying poetry workshop from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. March 7. The exhibit features the work of disabled artists and writers from 16 towns and cities in Missouri, including two visual artists from Cape Girardeau: Dave Carter and The Artist Grimm. The poetry workshop will focus on cascade and haiku styles. It will be under the direction of Shari Jo LeKane-Yentumi of St. Louis. To register for the workshop, call the Arts Council at 334-9233.
