Student art show to be held at Cateye Glasses

Five Southeast Missouri State University art students will present their works from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Cateye Glasses Studio, 2117B Broadway in Cape Girardeau. The exhibit is titled "In the Name of Art" and will include an array of media, from sculptures made from natural elements to photography.

Riverfront Market vendor meeting set

The Cape Riverfront Market leaders will hold a meeting for all those interested in having a vendor booth for the upcoming 2016 season at 6 p.m. March 1 at First Presbyterian Church, 235 Broadway in Cape Girardeau. The market leaders are seeking a variety of vendors who offer fresh fruits, vegetables, meats and cheeses, as well as specialty items such as baked goods, prepared foods and artisan crafts. New nature center art gallery to open

Jenny Davenport, who recently moved from Montana to Missouri, will have a photography art gallery open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. throughout March at the Cape Girardeau Conservation Nature Center, 2289 County Park Drive in Cape Girardeau. The exhibit is her attempt to capture the intricacies of nature and the details within that inspire her.

Hymn Festival set for St. Paul Lutheran

St. Paul's Department of Music will present a hymn festival at 6 p.m. March 5 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 223 W. Adams St. in Jackson. The festival will include hymns for the congregation and anthems by the choir celebrating St. Paul's mission of "Belonging, Becoming and Building." The church's Kantorei, Joyful Sound Ringers, brass quartet and organ will lead the festival. The event is free and open to the public.

Chaffee's Got Talent to entertain

Chaffee's Got Talent will be from 3 to 6 p.m. March 5 at the Church of God Chaffee, 11929 Highway 77 South in Chaffee, Missouri. This will be a talent show for all those who wish to show they can sing, play a musical instrument, produce a magic act or do a standup comedy routine. The event will help fund mission work in Chaffee for The Church of God's all-star youth group. The first-place winner of the event will receive $50, with second and third receiving gift cards. Fashion show planned at Franklin Elementary

The inaugural "Dreams Don't Have an Expiration Date" Fashion Show will begin at 7 p.m. March 5 in the Franklin Elementary School auditorium, 215 N. Louisiana St. in Cape Girardeau. Red-carpet entrances will start at 6 p.m. Tickets cost $10 if bought in advance, $15 at the door or $20 for VIP front-row seating and a gift bag. Three local dance teams will perform, and the event will be hosted by Heather Marie and Christy Love. To purchase tickets, call (573) 450-2982.

Dance auditions to be held at River Campus

Victor Alexander, director of the Ruth Page School of Dance in Chicago, will conduct auditions at 2 p.m. March 5 at the Southeast Missouri State University Kenneth and Jeanine Dobbins River Campus Center Dance Studio, 518 S. Fountain St. in Cape Girardeau, for the Ruth Page School of Dance's intensive summer program. The auditions will focus on ballet and contemporary dance, and the summer program will run from June 20 to July 15.
