Library book sale scheduled

The Friends of the Cape Girardeau Public Library Foundation will hold its Annual Spring Book Sale from 6 to 8 p.m. March 1, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. March 2 and 1 to 5 p.m. March 3. Foundation members are invited to a special preview hour from 5 to 6 p.m. March 1. Anyone may join the organization at the door for a minimum of $15. Hundreds of items will be available for purchase, including hardcover books for $1 each, paperbacks for 50 cents and books-on-tape and videos for $2. All proceeds go to benefit special library projects sponsored by the Friends Foundation.

Sundays at Three sets ‘Meet Me in Paris'

Chamber Music Sundays at Three will present "Meet Me in Paris" at 3 p.m. March 3, in the Shuck Music Recital Hall at Southeast Missouri State University's River Campus. Bulgarian cellist Valentina Takova will perform with Chamber Project Saint Louis violist Laura Reycraft, Washington University piano professor Seth Carlin and Sundays at Three artistic director Brandon Christensen. The concert focuses on chamber works by the French Romantic composers Gabrielle Faure and Camille Saint-Saens and will include "Elegy for Piano and Cello" by Faure, "Piano Trio Op 18 in F Major" by Saint-Saens and the dramatic "Piano Quartet Op 15 in C Minor" by Faure. Tickets may be purchased by contacting the River Campus Box Office in the Cultural Arts Center, 518 S. Fountain St., weekdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., or by calling 651-2265. Wehrenberg Theatres is presenting the full-length BBC Earth documentary "One Life." Show times at Cape West 14 Cine, 247 Siemers Drive, are 2 p.m. Sunday and 7 p.m. Wednesday. Studio Jazz Ensemble to appear at jazz festival

The Southeast Missouri State University Studio Jazz Ensemble will perform at the 46th annual Elmhurst College Jazz Festival today and Saturday in Chicago. Also appearing will be the Studio Jazz combo during one of the festival's ticketed events. Playing with the combo will be Trevor Smith of Jackson, piano, alto sax and arranger; Ethan Flood of Steele, Mo., alto sax; Matt Gates of Dexter, Mo., trombone; Cody Jinkerson of Potosi, Mo., trumpet; Steven Watkins of Oak Ridge, tenor sax; Bryndon Lee of Cape Girardeau, guitar; Kyle Clay of Cape Girardeau, bass; Chris Whited of St. Louis, drum set; and Cedric Portis of Florissant, Mo., piano. During its set at the festival, the Studio Jazz Ensemble will perform an original composition, "Whiteout," by Smith, a composition major.

RCP presents ‘Retro Radio'

River City Players will present "Retro Radio," a tribute to the Golden Age of Radio, at Port Cape Girardeau, 19 N. Water St. The show will be performed as dinner theater on March 1-2 and March 8-9. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m., dinner at 7 p.m. and the show at 8 p.m. A show only performance will be on March 7 at 7 p.m. ‘Retro Radio' will include scripts from "The Lone Ranger," "The Bickersons," "The Shadow" and "Who's on First?" There will be singing and dancing during intermission. For ticket reservations, call 334-0954.
