First Friday to feature Armenian, Bulgarian artists

On Jan. 7, the Arts Council of Southeast Missouri will host a First Friday Opening reception from 5 to 8 p.m. for Armenian artist Sergaey Martirosyan, Bulgarian artist Victor Kantchev and the Visual Arts Cooperative at the Arts Council of Southeast Missouri Galleries, 32 N. Main St. Martirosyan's work will be on display at the Lorimier Gallery throughout January, and Kantchev's work will be on display in Gallery 100.

Artists' reception to be held at Sikeston Depot

SIKESTON -- The public is invited to an artists' reception at the Sikeston Depot on Jan. 1, featuring the works of photographic artist Teresa Gemeinhardt along with wood sculptures and hand-crafted musical instruments by Michael Clippard. The reception will last from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m., and the works will be on display at the Depot throughout January. Admission is free, and refreshments will be served. The Sikeston Depot is at 116 W. 'Treasures of Imperial Russia' in Sikeston

SIKESTON -- "Treasures of Imperial Russia," an exhibit featuring the collection of the Czarist Romanov Dynasty and including 70 holy icons, will be at the Sikeston Depot Museum, 116 W. Malone Ave., through Thursday. The exhibit is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday 1 to 4 p.m.

Young acting troupes accepting new members

PADUCAH, Ky. -- Footlights, the Market House Theatre's youth acting troupe program, is accepting registrations for its new trimester of classes, which begins Jan. 8. Students receive classes in acting, theater games and improvisation. They also will produce a play. The classes meet Saturday mornings through March 12. No previous classes or experience is needed. There is a limited number of scholarships for those with financial need. For information or to register, call (270) 444-6828 before Jan. 8. The theater will be closed Dec. 24 through Jan. 3.
