Winners of the Southeast Missouri Arts Council's 2012 annual Regional Juried Exhibition were announced during the First Friday reception, and nearly $1,000 in cash prizes was distributed. John "Cowboy" Lynch was awarded this year's Best of Show and a $500 prize for his piece titled "Desert Sand." Lynch has been involved with the arts council for the past year and is a member of the Visual Arts Cooperative. This is his first award at an arts council juried exhibit. Second place went to Rusty Newton, a ceramic artist, for her piece "Dream Catcher." Three juror's selections went to Victor Kantchev for his piece "Aspens," Mary Ann Hartman for "The Workshop" and Vicki Outman for "Purple Threads Play the Fields." The exhibit will be on display at the arts council, 32 N. Main St., until Jan. 26 and features pieces by 20 local and regional artists.
